Program Misahualli- Pañacocha 7 Days / 6 Nights

This is the best trip for those who truly want to learn about the rainforest. It is a unique chance to explore and begin to understand a variety rainforest ecosystems.

1st Day: Misahualli- Napo River- Huambuno River
After breakfast, we’ll take a motorized canoe down the Napo River for 20 minutes. After landing at our destination, we’ll walk for approximately two hours through the rainforest before reaching our first campsite. The area through which we’ll walk is especially rich in micro fauna, such as butterflies and frogs. In the afternoon, upon arrival at our first campsite, we’ll have the opportunity to take a refreshing swim in the Arajuno River.

2nd Day: Huambuno River- Napo River- Coca
In the morning, we’ll walk for approximately three hours along the Huambuno River. We’ll then return to the lodge, paddling down river in canoes. After lunch, we’ll continue downriver to Santa Rosa where we’ll visit an indigenous family very skilled in crafting traditional ceramics. At night, we’ll camp near Coca.

3rd Day: Coca-Pañayacu-Pañacocha
From Coca, we’ll journey along the Napo River until we reach the Pañayacu River. This leg of the journey will take approximately five hours. We’ll eat lunch along the way. Our final destination will be Pañacocha (Piranha Lake), where we’ll take a short walk around the lodge before eating dinner and going to bed.

4th Day: Pañacocha
After breakfast, we’ll navigate up the Pañayacu River for about two hours, taking in some of the area’s incredible flora and fauna. This trip is perfect for bird watching, taking pictures, and observing monkeys and other jungle animals in their natural habitat. We’ll then go for a two-hour walk through the rainforest, stopping to study different kinds of plants and insects along the way.

5th Day: Pañacocha and the surrounding lagoons
In the morning, we’ll explore lagoons and mangroves by canoeing, all the while observing several types of native Amazon birds such as caciques, oropéndolas, and hoatzines. In the late afternoon, you’ll try your hand at piranha fishing and get the chance to see pink fresh water dolphins.

6th Day: Pañacocha
After breakfast, we’ll de some bird watching around Pañacocha and then walk for about two hours through the rainforest. Later that evening, we’ll go out in the canoes to spot caimanes (small alligators native to the Amazon).


7th Day: Pañacocha- Rio Napo- Coca
We’ll navigate up the Napo River to Coca, visiting an indigenous family along the way. We’ll stop for lunch on the river and our services will end once we reach Coca.

Our tours include licensed native guides, mosquito nets, rubber boots, three meals a day (starting with lunch on the 1st day and ending with lunch on the last day), and accommodations in double rooms- not to mention a true jungle experience.
